Greetings, gentle reader! Welcome to this site which reflects my interest in the Science, History and Art of the so-called "Alternative" Photographic Processes.
It's likely that you were brought here by an existing interest in this subject, but in case not, my essay Alternative Printing: A Conspectus will outline for you the background to this practice, should you wish it.
You are welcome to download and use any of the instructional notes, essays, images or data that I place on these pages. These now include my books: Platinomicon, Cyanomicon, Argyronomicon, and Chrysonomicon, which may be downloaded gratis here. They deal with the making of iron-based prints in platinum, palladium, Prussian blue, silver, and gold, respectively.
In 2021, Pradip Malde and I published a complete technical manual for the aspiring practitioner: Platinotype: Making Photographs in Platinum and Palladium with the Contemporary Printing-out Process, which may be purchased from Routledge. This book also presents an outstanding gallery of prints by over 40 artists using this medium.
